Myles Garrett gets $20.3 million bonus; Browns’ next three pick

  • and Myles Garrett “got his” today. Three other high Browns picks remain unsigned.,NFL rookie contracts get a little bigger each year in the new system

but Myles Garrett still should be able to pay a few bills with the one he signed today.,BEREA Rookie contracts aren’t what they used to be

including a $20.3 million signing bonus.,The No. 1 overall draft pick has accepted a four-year deal worth $30.4 million

Draft-choice contracts are calculated based on “a rookie pool” designed to eliminate holdouts and reserve a bigger pot of money for veterans.

The pool expanded from 2016 to 2017, resulting in the Browns giving Garrett substantially more than 2016 No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff got from the Rams (four years, $18.5 million guaranteed).,Authentic Kyler Fackrell Jersey, $27.9 million

Jameis Winston,Damarious Randall Jersey, the No. 1 overall pick in 2015,Quinten Rollins Jersey, with a $16.7 million signing bonus., signed a four-year contract worth $25.5 million

Garrett is a defensive end out of Texas A&M who projects as an instant starter. Getting him signed means he will be able to report to training camp at the earliest possible time in July. Players not under contract can participate in spring practice but not training camp.

The last straw in the old system of paying draft picks was Sam Bradford’s contract as a No. 1 overall pick in 2010. He got $50 million in guaranteed money as part of a deal worth $78 million. He went on to post a 32-45-1 record as the Rams’ starting quarterback.

The Browns still have to sign first-round picks Jabrill Peppers and David Njoku and second-round pick DeShone Kizer. Five later picks agreed to terms.

Peppers was the 25th overall pick. Last year’s No. 25,Authentic Brett Hundley Jersey, signed a four-year, Artie Burns, $9.6 million contract ($5.2 million bonus) with the Steelers.Njoku was the 29th overall pick. Last year’s No. 29, signed a four-year, Robert Nkemdiche, $8.6 million contract ($4.5 million bonus) with the Cardinals.

Kizer was the 52nd overall pick. He plays the same position,Kyler Fackrell Jersey, quarterback,Authentic Damarious Randall Jersey,Authentic Quinten Rollins Jersey,Authentic Ty Montgomery Jersey, as last year’s No. 51 pick,Ty Montgomery Jersey,Brett Hundley Jersey, who signed a four-year, Christian Hackenberg, $4.7 million deal (($1.6 million bonus) with the Jets.

It’s easy to see why draft-day tension builds among players waiting to hear their names called.

Garrett participated in last weekend’s rookie minicamp and will be in his first full-squad workouts early next week. He will appear at the Cleveland Browns Foundation’s annual golf tournament Monday at Barrington Golf Club.
